If you're new to EOSB, DEWS was the first funded End-of-Service Benefits (EOSB) Savings Plan in the GCC, replacing the traditional gratuity system within the DIFC in 2020.
Over its first five years, DEWS generated approximately USD 74m in cumulative investment gains for members and today offers 11 investment options across different risk profiles.
What happened in February?
Diversified funds, including the DEWS default fund, delivered another month of steady gains of +1.2% to +2.3%. The default fund itself gained +1.7%.
Fixed income and money market funds remained steady at 0.3% to 1.0% and approximately 0.2% respectively, supported by current interest rate levels.
Equity funds showed more variation, ranging from -1.7% to +0.3% following the broad-based rally seen in January. The weaker result came from the higher-risk, more concentrated equity strategy.
Looking at the bigger picture
Overall, February was a strong month for DEWS, with most funds delivering positive returns and only the highest-risk equity strategy showing short-term volatility.
For EOSB savings schemes, however, short-term market movements are often less significant than longer-term performance. Contributions are invested regularly over time, helping to smooth the impact of market fluctuations.
From a longer-term perspective, all DEWS fund categories remain positive on both a one-year and three-year basis, with diversified and equity strategies continuing to lead performance.
So, like all investments, funded schemes carry market risk, but members can choose fund options according to their personal risk appetite. The main advantage of such schemes is that your EOSB is funded and invested in your name each month, rather than relying on a future lump-sum payment from your employer.
Vestora will continue to publish regular updates to help employers and employees better understand outcomes across EOSB savings schemes.
